A wheel for the wax-rich and decision-poor.
Vinyl came back. Then it stayed. New pressings, reissues of reissues, colored variants, Record Store Day exclusives, the dusty 50¢ bin score you couldn't leave behind. If you log it on Discogs, your collection has a way of growing past what you can comfortably listen to.
Spin the Vinyl is a small, opinionated app for that exact problem. It pulls your Discogs collection, paints it onto a wheel, and lets randomness do the choosing. No algorithmic taste profile. No "you might also like". Just the records you already own, surfaced by chance.
Why a wheel?
Because picking from a list feels like work, and shuffling a streaming queue feels like nothing. A wheel is a small ritual — flick, watch, wait, react. It mirrors the analog ceremony of putting on a record.
Built around Discogs
Discogs is the database for record collectors and we lean into it. The app authenticates with a Personal Access Token you generate in your Discogs account, fetches your collection through the official API, and links every result back to its release page. Genres, styles, formats, and folders all come straight from Discogs metadata, so filters work the way you already think about your shelf.
Privacy, plainly
There is no account on our side, no server storing your collection, no tracking your spins. Your Discogs token is saved in your browser's local storage; calls go directly from your browser to the Discogs API. Clear your browser, clear the app.
